New Educator!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are so happy to announce our newest educator at Scraps of Darkness!
Shanna Shands!

Here is a bit about Shanna!

Hi everyone. My name is Shanna, and I am one of those stay at home mothers who went from all work and no play to all play and no work!  I have always loved various types of crafting but started really scrapbooking in 2004.  However, my true passion came forth when it was time for daughter’s first birthday in 2010. I could not find the right birthday invite so I went on a search to make some and the magic happened where I fell in love! That following year in 2011 I found copics and taught myself to color. I then began the collection of rubber stamps and papers, not looking back once.  Now I have stepped further into the creative world of art and enjoy creating pieces but not limited to: altered art, mixed media, ATCs, cards, scrapbook layouts, and other 3d projects.

Renea's Very Merry Christmas Stocking!

She created this super cute stocking using an image
from her sons old coloring book!!!!

so darling and fun!

this is how she created it.....

she traced her template onto the kit paper, creating a front an back side. Then glued just the edges, leaving the top side open for tags. She distressed and inked the edges then stamped with a script stamp, pleated some stash lace and added it to the top, added flowers from the kit, past kits and a Prima resin piece that I added Inka Gold to the edges on.

Here are her gorgeous tags

She stamped some tags with a swirl pattern, then with a script pattern, added some hand dyed seam binding, trim from the kit and little metal bells.

I cascaded the flowers from the kit that I sprayed with the mist from the color add on,
added a little gesso and rubbed with the inka gold in blue from the kit...I added the butterflies, a few flowers from my stash, the rope is from a previous kit and some die cut leaves

I tore a little paper and added one of the Glitz Designs giant rhinestones and sprayed the color resist frame and also rubbed it with inka gold and gesso

My next layout is of my beautiful grandaughter

I clustered the floral add on flowers (with a few from my stash)
I misted some cheese cloth with the mists from the color add on and also the color wash tag!
