Lisa's grunge layout with a twist of color!

Hello Friends- I'm back again with another project featuring the fabulous "Boys Will Be Boys Kit" from Scraps of Darkness. Now you can plainly see you don't have to be a boy to work this kit magic into your life. In case you don't know where to find our kits I've got a link to the store here.

Got to love a good Octopus right? Especially a purple and orange one. What a great color combo to brighten up the Blue Fern Studios (Chesterville) papers.

I pulled some things out of my stash, a large chipboard gear and colored it with the Spectrum Noir glitter markers in the Creativity Add On. They are fabulous! Gorgeous color and sparkle and they work magic on chipboard. I then embossed randomly over it.

I sprinkled some gears with micro beads in a bronze color and then stamped the top and bottom of the page in distress ink with the beautiful 49th and Market Gabi's Stitch Stamp found in the Creativity Add On.
I love me some pops of color so you see that Octopus worked quite well. I might have turned it into a butterflypus though. ;) Tucked in some cheese cloth and added those gorgeous florals.  The large one was in the Main Kit by Ruby Rock It. The cute little safety pins are from BoBunny (clear stickers) found in the Elements Add on here.
I had bits and pieces of BoBunny items on hand from past kits. If you subscribe you will build up your collection too.
I missed out on the Floral add on so used past SOD kit ones. You can a great selection in the shop here!

Now go on- cut up that Octopus and see what else he can be!

An Inspiring Colorful Layout by Lisa Novogrodski

Good Morning Friends!
It's Lisa Novogrodski here sharing my first design project using the beautiful "Boys Will Be Boys" kit from the March Scraps of Darkness Collection. As you can see I do not have boys, but girls and this "Chesterville" collection of papers from Blue Fern Studios suits either gender. You can find this kit here. Along with the Blue Fern papers are BoBunny's "Life in Color" collection of papers. I love the pops of blue and orange against the Chesterfield papers background.

I've topped the corner off by fussy cutting an inspirational quote and finishing off the corner with some arrows, metal spoon and sticker. You can find the Blue Fern Chipboard Splatter Arrow, the blue American Crafts micro beads and the BoBunny "Life in Color" clear stickers here in the "Elements Add On." It's sold out, we carry some of the items individually in the store. I used the 49th and Market clear stamp "Gabi's stitch line" to edge my page. This beautiful stamp set is in the Creativity Add On.

Here is a little close up of the photo and some random embellishments I added for interest. The big floral was in the Main Kit -"Ruby Rock It-Bella Paper Flowers"

Hope you enjoyed my project and thanks for stopping by!

Life In Color: An Amazing Boy Layout by Kathy

Hello From the Far North!!!
Oh my goodness, the new Scraps of Darkness
March Kit, "Boys Will Be Boys" is out, but unfortunate sold out, but you can subscribe for future kits here !

Now this has got to be my favorite kit so far that Melinda has put together for us.  It is absolutely perfect for mixed media, little boys, etc., etc.,   It is chocked full of Blue Fern Studies "Chesterville" collection and Bo Bunny's "Life in Color" collection.  Absolutely love them both.  You get TONS of embellishments and bits and pieces.

My first layout using this wonderful kit features my first grandson, Chase, on his first day of school for the second grade.  I could not believe how tall he has grown.  Brought tears to my eyes.  What a handsome dude!!!  I wanted to create a grungy, mod, pop page and the Bo Bunny papers are perfect, they matched the colors of clothes exactly.

The background papers from Bo Bunny and are included in the Coordinating Paper Add On.  I used the new Gabrielle Pollacco "Line Stitch" stamp you can find in the Creativity Add on around the edges.  I did a lot of distressing and added some black notebook punch paper under the tears, which I stapled down.

To create my stamped, gessoed and paint splattered background I used the Art Stamp (circles) included in the Elements Add On.  I splattered some Lindy's "Sapphire" plus some black ink.  I filled in some of the circles using the Tim Holtz Distress Crayon "Salty Ocean" included in the Main Kit.  I decided to add the little gems as a finishing touch after the layout was finished.

I used the Blue Fern Studies chipboard as the focus of the layout.  I purchased it at the Scraps of Darkness Store here.  I inked it with Ranger's Black Archival ink then added some turquoise glitter paste that I got in a previous kit.  Next I cut background circles to fill in the chipboard circle shapes, using the Bo Bunny Misc Me note cards in the Main Kit.  I decided to use the clear stickers, also from Bo Bunny in various places in the circles (Elements Add On).  I think they give a nice touch.  I also added the stickers to the pictures.

I fussy cut the sentiment from one of the label papers in the Bo Bunny collection.  Chase is a pretty shy little guy, and is having trouble this year in school.  Grandma is always trying to build up his confidence, so this phrase was perfect.  I also added another note card to the right side, which is similar to what I am always telling him...."Chase you are very smart, you just don't believe it yet, but you will!"

To the left side of the photo I used the "Awesome" phrase that is printed on the washi tape included in the Elements Add On.  Love that tape!  I also added another clear sticker from Bo Bunny.  A final touch.

I love doing masculine layouts!!  It just takes me some time to switch gears from the shabby, feminine style I also like to create.  And did you notice....not one single flower LOLO!!!

That's it for me this week......I hope you enjoyed your visit!!!    Have a great week everyone, and till next time here is a great Big Alaska Bear Hug coming from your Momma Bear!!!

Mixed Media Monday - 27.3.17

Hello my crafty friends, Lisa here to share a layout I created with a photograph of me....and another super color-packed project made with the February Scraps of Elegance kit.

Loving these 49 & Market papers....the colors are so pretty! I really enjoy playing around
with watercolors on my background, and I just added lots of different colors here........yellow, orange, pink and purple. I also really loved the Lindy's Stamp Gang 'Shaker'...I just mixed it with a little
water, I think I'll want more of those for sure.

Here are a few close ups:

I fussy cut some flowers and clocks out of one of the papers and then used a doily, the stencil with modeling paste, some glass stones and a Prima bird, all from the Main kit,
and also lots of flowers from the Floral Add On.

Hugs, Lisa xo

2 New kits: Hello Beautiful and Boys Will Be Boys

Most days our posts are sharing gorgeous projects and/or tutorials from our designers, but once a month we have our kits to share - we are, after all, monthly scrapbook kit clubs!

So today we are sharing our March kits.  The first is our Scraps of Darkness kit, and it's called "Boys Will Be Boys":

As soon as I saw Blue Fern Studios' Chesterville collection, I knew I had to use it in a kit, and the first thing I thought of was that it's perfect for grunge and masculine layouts and projects.  So this one is dedicated to my grandson, who I thought about as I was picking all those goodies out!  You can see the papers included in the Patterned Paper Add On Photo below, and if you'd like to see a breakdown of all the products included in the kit and add ons, we list them all on the product pages in our store, and you can find them here: Scraps of Darkness Kits

And here are photos of this months SOD kit Add Ons:

Patterned Papers (included in the main kit or available separately as an Add-On):

Coordinating Papers (these are NOT included in the main kit):

And what could be more elegant than Graphic 45's Portrait of a Lady collection, which we feature in our March Scraps of Elegance kit - Hello Beautiful

You can always see our current kit and add ons in our store here: Scraps of Elegance kits. And here are photos of this month's kit Add-Ons:

Amy's gorgeous Watercolor Wishes kit layout

Good morning lovelies,
On my birthday and I would like to share a 12 by 12 layout using the amazing wonderful February "Watercolor Wishes" kit at Scraps of Elegance. This is a gorgeous kit with all pretty 49 and Market goodies in it but also some pretty metal pieces and other stunning embellishments this is just a must have kit.

Together we Smile:

The picture I used is of my precious cousin her daughters Nadene and Hanna and I really love this picture of them {it's so sweet}. I really got inspired to use this picture because of the lovely haute couture stamp set by Gabrielle Pollacco that was also in this kit.

I also used some sticker words that I had in my stash but you can also print words or text on a pieces of patterned paper and just print it out that works fine for me on most layouts. The chipboard piece I used here is treated with rust paste by Finnabair and it was cut in two.

Those glass stones that are in this kit are just the bomb wow I really enjoyed using them on this particular layout. The pretty metal bird you see at the bottom picture is by Prima Marketing and is so adorable. I used the pretty stencil in the kit on different parts of my layout and also I added a bunch of Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays on this piece.

This main kit is still available at the Scraps of Darkness/Elegance Store so it you would like it please be quick because it's amazing. Just take a good look at all these yummy products below.

Thank you so much for visiting the blog today and have a wonderful week...
